Our Mission

COVID Straight Talk Lab’s mission is to accelerate worker-led policy change as well as provide accessible public health information for labor unions and worker centers to use in workplace organizing for COVID safety. We work in collaboration with scientists, labor unions, worker centers, nonprofits, and communication experts to pass national and state indoor air-ventilation policy to keep the most at-risk frontline workers safe during this pandemic. The COVID Straight Talk website, in both Spanish and English, features urgently needed, life-saving tips and toolkits on indoor air ventilation to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19 in the workplace.

Our Story

COVID Straight Talk Lab began as a program of Last Mile. Essential workers—disproportionately from low-income BIPOC communities—were being let down by the response to COVID-19. To save lives, we partnered with scientists and labor organizers as part of the worker-led health and safety movement.

All of this was possible due to the support of our partners and advisors.

Archive

Throughout 2020 and 2021, COVID Straight Talk Lab met with workers to learn what resources they needed—then partnered with scientists to make those resources a reality.
